Anne With An E Season 4: Netflix Release Date, Cast, Plot And Renewal Status

Anne With An E is a Canadian television series adaptation of the 1908 Canadian novel, Anne of Green Gambles, written by Lucy Maud Montgomery. The show is produced by Miranda de Pencier’s Northwood Entertainment, with the screenplay written by three-time Emmy® Award and Golden Globe winner Moira-Walley Beckett. The majority of the cast is made up of females along with the showrunner  and executive producer being female. Several of the directors and writers are female as well.

The Storyline Of Anne With An E

The series is set in 1890 and centers around a young girl who is faced with numerous challenges while trying to find her place in the world. After suffering an abusive childhood, Anne Shirley spent her childhood bouncing around several orphanages and stranger’s houses after her parents died when she was just a few months old. At 13 years old, she’s mistakenly adopted by an elderly brother and sister, Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert, who share a home together as they had never married. They were expecting to adopt an orphaned boy to help out around their farm on Green Gambles but were met by the young girl instead.

Matthew and Marilla had differing opinions on whether they wanted Anne to stay. Matthew welcomed her into the home; however Marilla was thrown off by her unknown status as an orphan and though she would just be a useless, young girl.

Renewal Status Of Anne With An E Season 4

There have been 3 season of the show so far, with the last season releasing at the beginning of 2020. Unfortunately, the current status of Anne With An E will be cancelled after season 3. Fans were extremely disappointed after receiving the news and actually started a petition to urge producers to continue the series. Here’s what producer Miranda de Pencier had to say to fans:

Add A letter to our fans: Thank you so much for your tweets, hashtags, DMs, emails, letters, and messages. You have overwhelmed the internet and us! We heard your voices loud and clear (as did CBC and Netflix) from all around the world and we are so grateful for the generous outpouring of passionate enthusiasm for our show. We couldn’t feel more honored, humbled, and deeply moved. As hard as it is to face letting go of things we love (and we’ve loved this journey of making ANNE WITH AN E as much as you have loved watching it) there is just no way to revive ANNE WITH AN E anywhere at this point. It will not happen. So now we need to love all that exists of it and hold onto the joy and hope and wonder the show brought to all of us who worked on it, and all of you who watched it. And when you have a longing for Green Gables, know that you can return to it and it will always be there for you. ANNE WITH AN E will live forever in our hearts – as will you, our beloved fans.
