Expert Panel: Amanda Fields on Bravo’s The Fashion Show
FILED UNDER: Exclusive Interviews, Expert Panel, The Fashion Show Posted: May 21, 2009 by behindtheseams | LEAVE A COMMENTBetween adjusting to our new site and researching the marriages on The Real Housewives of New Jersey, SeenON! got to catch up with our Expert Panelist Amanda Fields to get her take on last week’s episode of Bravo’s The Fashion Show.

SO!: On last week’s episode, we saw contestant Johnny R. send a dress down the runway that was literally pinned together . Is it common to see last-minute garments being presented at a fashion show?
AF: No, this is not common. You never want to see a design coming down the runway that isn’t properly constructed, because there are so many buyers in the audience that will notice. It is a huge red flag and buyers won’t order the line because of fear that the collection won’t be well produced for their store.
SO! Do you think that the judges made the right decision sending Laura home versus Johnny R.?
AF: Yes, I think that Laura’s dress was the worst dress we have seen so far. However, I think that the black portion of Laura’s dress fit much better than Johnny’s dress. I think it really came down to who was a better television personality, so they kept Johnny.
SO!: So far the challenges on The Fashion Show have been far more collaborative than individual, which do you prefer?
AF: I like to see shows where the contestants work on a more individual basis as you get to see them develop and get an idea of who they are as a designer. Right now it is hard to tell which vision belongs to the respective designer.
SO!: Are there any models that you particularly like or dislike?
AF: The model who wore Markus’ design. She looked like she was overcompensating for the dress. She was trying too hard to sell the dress. However, we don’t if Markus was telling her to walk a particular way in the dress.
SO!: As a model, was there any particular outfit that you would have liked to walk in?
AF: If I had to pick, I would have chosen Daniella’s design. These types of shoots are all day and often you are standing the entire time (because you don’t want the garment to be wrinkled), so something comfortable is very important. However, I would be happy wearing anything.
