SO!: You didn’t seem too excited when it came time to partner up with the eliminated designers - how was it working with Angel? How helpful was she?

J: Working with Angel was okay.  It felt a little awkward for her, because I know she is loyal to Reco. You could tell she felt like she deserved to still be there.

SO!: If you could work with another designer on this challenge, who would you choose and why?

J: Haven, because she is so fun! I also previously enjoyed working with Merlin, because we got along pretty well.

SO!: During the elimination, Isaac noted that The Fashion Show is all about originality, not plagiarism. Had you seen other contestants on the show imitate styles of big designers without consequence?

J: Of course! It’s funny because the white, Hamptons-style dress Angel made for the functional outfit challenge looked just like the one she was wearing from Opening Ceremony the day before. It was by an unknown designer and nobody caught it at the time.

SO!: What was the most memorable moment from the competition? What was the most profound learning experience or skill you got out of it?

J: The best moment was definitely working with Isaac - having private time and being able to pick his brain. Through the competition, I learned to take things more seriously. I’m learning to have a better attitude, and take blunt criticism like “We don’t like your outfit” a little better.

SO!: From what you know about the four remaining designers, who do you predict will win The Fashion Show?

J: That’s a tough one. I appreciate Daniella’s work so much - she is so talented. But thinking about the business side of our work, Anna’s concepts are extremely fashion-friendly and sellable. As far as the business mindset is concerned, Anna has it. People are going to want what she designs. I’m not surprised that Daniella made it this far, though. Yes, she is so young, but she is so amazing! If she’s already made it this far at her age, I can’t wait to see what comes. What really sets Daniella apart is that she is not jaded yet – she’s a bright-eyed designer and the world is her oyster. But, really, it’s all about the viewers asthetic - the decision of who wins is in hands of America.

SO!: What’s next for you as a designer? What can your fans look forward to?

J: I’m working on developing a new line called Digital Heart. It’s more of a downtown contemporary line that’s very affordable. I’m hoping it will make a debut by next summer. Right now, I’m working for private label, because, let’s be honest, that’s where money’s at!
