Krizia from www.myBeautyMatch.com on Ugly Betty’s season finale!
Did you watch the softball episode on Ugly Betty’s season finale last night? It was pure gold!
I mean Naomi Campbell whipping out a mobile phone and everyone around her ducking (given her alleged reputation for using a mobile phone as a weapon)? What about the baseball-couture? The British bad-girl supermodel was sporting short-shorts, be-jewelled belt, bright red tights and high heal platform sneakers! It was so bad that it was actually good.
It goes without saying that all teammates on the Mode side and the competitor’s side (in this case Elle magazine) were wearing full on makeup and perfectly coiffed hair during their softball game.
Talking about makeup, I could not get my eyes off of Vanessa Williams‘ character Wilhelmina Slater (aka Wilhel-meaner by her assistant Marc). It’s true that Vanessa Williams is outstandingly gorgeous, but the makeup she was wearing just made her already beautiful blue eyes stand out even more.
Not only was Wilhelmina wearing perfect makeup, she was also wearing many of the spring-summer 2008 trends.
On last night’s episode, we saw Wilhelmina with thick black eyeliner and red lips! It’s classic and yet it’s bold.
If you noticed Wilhelmina wore the same makeup with three different outfits and it worked every time: her white suit which she was sporting with a beautiful gold and turquoise necklace, her gold lame dress and her white and orange softball outfit.
Wilhelmina’s classic makeup combined with her caramel bob cut and those perfect red nails screamed “I’m in charge and don’t even think of messing with me!”
Most of us might not dare to wear so much black eyeliner and then top it up with bold red lips. Another way of wearing this trend is to soften the lips. If you noticed Rebecca Romijn’s Alexis Meade character was also wearing thick black eyeliner, but her lips wear stained with a soft neutral shade that still gave her color without the drama of red lips.
If you want to use either of those looks for your summer events, choose the one that you are most comfortable with … for most of us it would be to play off stronger eyes against softer lips or vice versa … strong bold red lips with very soft eyes.
