SeenON! caught up with designer James-Paul Ancheta last week to talk The Fashion Show finale! Ultimately, America just wasn’t buying James-Paul’s final collection, as he received the least amount of votes among the final three designers. But he’s not going to let a third place finish get him down. Read on to hear James-Paul stand by his work and capture the show experience as he saw it.

SO!: Did you agree with the final three? Who else do you think should have had the chance to be voted on by America?

I agreed with the final three. It represented different markets and demographics in fashion. However, I do not think that the voting strategy was aimed to cover all three.  I think the final four should have been voted on by the public.  It created a false hope for one of the contestants and it was a tragic feeling for him.

This morning, SeenON! sat down to chat with Reco from The Fashion Show to get all the details about last week’s elimination and his final collection. SO!: The judges critiqued all the designers’ collections for flaws like over-complexity and fit. So why do you think you were ultimately chosen to be eliminated over the other designers?

I told James-Paul that it was going to be me. I was the fan favorite and I just knew that I was going to be eliminated. But I gave 110 percent - I gave it my all.

SO!: You didn’t seem too excited when it came time to partner up with the eliminated designers - how was it working with Angel? How helpful was she?

J: Working with Angel was okay.  It felt a little awkward for her, because I know she is loyal to Reco. You could tell she felt like she deserved to still be there.

We just wrapped up our interview with designer Merlin from The Fashion Show and, boy, did he have a lot to say! During last night’s elimination, the judges criticized Merlin for being too ambitious in his “busy” design and, ultimately, they just weren’t buying his traveling sweat suit. The judges said bon voyage to Merlin, but he refuses to let the sun set on his dreams. Read on to hear Merlin’s point of view.

SO!: Do you think your fate in the competition would have changed had you drawn a different tarot card?

M: No. When I pulled that card, I knew I was out. I didn’t want to waste my energy trying to fight it. I accepted my fate. I believe in destiny - it is why I am here, in this country.

This week, SeenON! connected with fashion expert Erika Stanley of SNOB Style  to dish about episode 7 of Bravo’s The Fashion Show, discuss the good ol’ “walk of shame” and talk about what it takes to design for a big name in the industry.

SO!: In this week’s Harper’s Bazaar mini challenge, the designers were asked to clean up a “walk of shame” look and create something acceptable for the office. What are some simple tips that you can offer girls in a crunch to help them make the events from the night before not so obvious?

ES: I would say take a few things with you. Incorporate basics into your outfit so that you can “Macgyver it up” to work from day to night or night to day.  Bringing along a scarf or tights can make it more of a daytime look. Layering is definitely key.
