Look of the Day: Jennifer Garner

Friday, August 8th, 2008

Jennifer Garner had a summery (and pregnant) glow as she checked on the rumored building site of her new home with hubby Ben Affleck. Jen wore a simple, comfy Juicy Couture tunic with light jeans. She accessorized with chic sunglasses to protect her eyes from the sun.

Want an easy summery outfit like Jen’s? Get your own Juicy Couture Lace Yoke Tunic–it’s comfortable and cute for the hot summer heat. Pair with Citizens of Humanity Crystal Bell Bottoms for a hippie chic vibe. And you can never have too many sunglasses; I like these black oval frames from Karl Lagerfeld. This outfit is perfect for a hot summer day when you want to keep your cool and style.

Have a stylish weekend and make sure you come back on Monday for your celeb style update.

Look of the Day: Reese Witherspoon

Thursday, August 7th, 2008

No matter the occasion, Reese Witherspoon always manages to look adorable and she was no exception shopping at Stella McCartney. Reese kept her shopping attire casual with tailored white crop pants and a loose grey blouse, but polished her style with chic accessories. Her Belle by Sigerson Morrison ballet flats and roomy white handbag were perfect compliments to a long day of shopping. Reese also wore big black sunglasses to shield out the sun and paparazzi.

Take a style hint from Reese and use fabulous accessories to dress up your look. We love her Belle by Sigerson Morrison Ballerina Flats, which are chic enough to dress up any outfit. These Versace Sunglasses are just like Reese’s. And for the perfect day bag, we like the Francesco Biasia Love Elevan Handbag. As Reese knows, accessories are always a great way to personalize your style.

Come back tomorrow to see which celeb we are loving next.

Look of the Day: Blake Lively

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

No matter if Blake Lively is in jeans and a tee or dolled up for the red carpet, I just love her style! Seen here in a cobalt blue Tadashi Shoji minidress at the Teen Choice Awards, she looked just stunning. Blake paired her dress with a fabulous black patent belt and black patent stilettos. She likes to keep her jewelry minimal, but I’m loving her sparkly cocktail ring.

Channel Blake’s style with this Silence & Noise Knit One Shoulder Dress; pair with a chic black belt like this Pelle Melle Black Bridle Belt. Make a statement with this Blue Leopard Rhinestone Ring. This look is perfect if you are feeling flirty and fabulous.

Don’t forget to come back tomorrow to see the celeb look of the day.

Look of the Day: Alexis Bledel

Tuesday, August 5th, 2008

Today, I am just loving Alexis Bledel! She looked fabulously hip in her little black dress by Mischen and fierce Alaia sandals at the premiere of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 in Manhattan.

Are you digging Alexis’ look too? Get her style with this Zoa Halter Brick Dress–a unique play on the little black dress. These Type Z Black Daydream Sandals are just as fierce and strappy as Alexis’. Lastly, don’t forget a metallic clutch to make your outfit shine; we like Lorelei Chloe Gold Metallic Lambskin Clutch. This look is great because you can never have too many LBDs in your wardrobe.

Check back tomorrow to see another inspiring celeb look of the day.

Monday, August 4th, 2008

At the Teen Choice Awards, dozens of starlets were dressed to impress. One of the highlights was Scarlett Johansson in this fabulous, feminine Matthew Williamson dress. She paired her dress with black peep-toe pumps and bold jewelry.

Look of the Day: Patrick Dempsey

Friday, August 1st, 2008

Today, I am just loving Patrick Dempsey. On the set of his Men’s Vogue photoshoot, he looked divinely handsome in a Valentino sport coat, Tom Ford button up, and Burberry pants. And he wouldn’t be a celeb without sunglasses–Patrick’s are classic Persols. I love how summery, yet professional this look is.

Are you loving Patrick’s style too? Get his look with a stone colored Tony Melilo Blazer and Theory Pants. Don’t forget a pair of Persol sunglasses for an ubercool vibe. This is the perfect outfit for a summer brunch.

Project Runway Episode 501 Designs: Daniel & Jennifer

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Even though it’s interesting to see all the designs from Project Runway in person, I do have my favorites. And I finally was able to get a better look at two of my favorite designs from 501–Daniel and Jennifer.

I absolutely loved Daniel’s plastic cup dress on the runway and it didn’t disappoint in person. His dress was just as fabulous as I imagined it. Daniel thought outside the box with his material selection and chose Solo blue plastic cups for his dress. Surprisingly, Daniel was able to create the illusion of a smooth surface with the cups. The dress had a muslin lining which served as a foundation to hot glue the plastic cup pieces onto. This was another dress that was glued onto the model and had to be cut off. The only downside to the dress was its sweaty smell, as the plastic cups don’t breathe. Overall, it’s obvious that Daniel knows how to highlight a women’s silhouette; the plastic pieces were arranged it perfectly follow the model’s hourglass shape. In the auction, Daniel’s dress did well, raising $105.

I also got to peek at Jennifer’s lipstick paper towel dress. While this dress was just ho-hum on the runway, it was marvelous in person. This dress was really well made–from the sweetheart neckline, to the fitted waist, and the immaculate ruffles. I especially liked the back detailing and tiers of ruffles; these fabulous details made the dress. Jennifer was also smart about the lipstick–making her prints on separate paper towels that she sewed on. Like to so many others, this dress was sewn onto the model and cut off. “Gojengo” was the auction winner–guess Jennifer has a fan club already, or a devoted bff. Hmmm.

Make sure you check back tomorrow as I will be giving up all the details on the rest of the designs from 501. And don’t forget to nab your own Project Runway original in this week’s auction: Bright Lights/Big City!

Project Runway Episode 501 Designs: Jerry & Keith

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

I’m back with another update on the dirty details of the Project Runway Episode 501 Designs. Today I got a peek at both the good & the bad!

First for the bad. While Jerry was upset about leaving the show on the first episode, it had to be someone; and after seeing his garment in person, I know why it was him! The judges stormed on Jerry’s rainy day fun outfit. His idea was had potential, but his execution was nowhere near making the cut. Jerry’s rain jacket was made out of a shower curtain liner, using the hooks for buttons. Props for the creative buttons and the unique cut of the jacket hem. However, it was poorly constructed–it was cut so small across the back, it had to be taped to the model for the runway. Jerry also made a shift dress out of gauze and a lavender plastic tablecloth to go underneath the jacket. This also was badly executed: it did not hang well and was badly sewn. Interestingly enough, Jerry’s garment wasn’t last in the auction–it was second to last, raising $50. To Jerry’s credit, it was difficult to be the first to leave, but it seems his party would’ve been rained on sooner or later.

Now for the nitty gritty on Keith. While I would love to dish on him for using an unoriginal fabric–a checkered black and white tablecloth–I just can’t. His dress was well constructed with good detailing. Keith’s dress had a deep v neck with a volumious bubble skirt. I absolutely loved the skirt on the dress–it had a fabulous, flirty shape and movement. Keith also incorporated laundry bag netting into his skirt to add interest and texture, which he dip-dyed black. The only fault to this dress was the pins holding the back seam together. Keith also made a belt out of shinny silver squares–a trendy touch. Keith’s dress went for $105 to a “mommydelbear,” do you think his mom is starting a collection like Blayne’s mom?

Check back tomorrow for another update on the designs–I’m covering a few of my favorites! Make sure you bid on your favorite auction designs!
